About the Institute
Under the aegis of Thakur Educational Group (TEG), The “Zagdu Singh Charitable Trust” established a State-of-the-Art-Campus degree college in Kandivali-West with name “ Thakur Specialized Degree College ”.
The Program shall be delivered as envisioned in the “ National Education Policy -2020” with multidisciplinary approach giving enough flexibility to the students to convert 3 year degree program into “4 year degree program with Honours” or “4 year degree program with Research by adding one extra year to their studies. The focus will be on Holistic Student Development leading to better employment and higher studies opportunities in India and Abroad. The program will be affiliated to University of Mumbai and are proposed to start from Academic Year 2023-24.
Thakur Specialized Degree College (TSPDC) provides three-degree programmes in the stream of Science, Commerce and Arts. First-year degree course has 360 intake offering undergraduate programs in regular Science like B.Sc. (Chemistry/Physics), B.Sc. (Botany / Zoology), in commerce like B.Com. (Commerce) and in Arts like B.A. (Psychology / Philosophy / Economics) as per perspective plan of Government of Maharashtra under University of Mumbai.
The college campus is spread over one acre of land having ICT-based smart classrooms, well-equipped laboratory of Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, and Electronics . Common facilities include spacious Auditorium, Seminar Hall, wi-fi enabled classes and library that can accommodate large number of students in its huge reading Hall. To accommodate the expanding needs of students, the institute offers a cutting-edge infrastructure with large number of classrooms and a digital technology setting. Moreover, the college promotes a strong aptitude of research with an environment of explanation and investigation.
The campus has a large cricket and football field and a turf. The institute facilitates the college canteen, boys hostel amenities, and open quadrangles. Students at the college take part in extracurricular activities, such as the Intercollegiate Fest and cultural competitions held throughout the city. They also go on field trips, industrial visits, attend seminars, and participate in conferences that are organised by each department to expose them to real-world business situations.
The institution is committed to fostering a positive environment for learning and teaching that prioritises the needs of its students in all aspects of its operations.
Institute has planned and proposed to start Professional undergraduate courses in Science like B.Sc. (Information Technology), B.Sc. (Data Science), B.Sc. (Computer Science), and in commerce like B.COM (Accounting & Finance), B.M.S (Management Studies) and B.A (Psychology).
